Balapitiya

Balapitiya is a small, picturesque village with golden soft beaches. It is traditionally a fishing village and you can see the scattered small fishing hamlets bordering the beach and it is located 100 km from Sri Lanka's international airport and 75 km from Colombo. One of the major attractions of this place is Maadu river which is rich in flora and fauna. The river which has become the most visited site of Balapitiya generally attracts tourists for its ECO-Tourism and bird watching activity. The area around the river is the preserved wildlife sanctuary.
